Listen to him. - Mark 9:7 Donations to the Bishop s Ministry appeal help support the young men who have been called by God to the priesthood. The diocese bears the cost of tuition, room and board for each of our seminarians. By supporting our seminarians throughout discernment, they have the freedom to follow God s will without asking, Can I afford it? Most candidates come with no independent means of support, no nest egg. With your gifts, money will never serve as a roadblock between young men and the priesthood. Money can never be an issue for a viable candidate, says Bishop Stephen Blaire. It costs the diocese over $35,000 each year for each of our seminarians. This includes room and board, tuition, books, medical insurance, and a small annual stipend. The road to becoming a priest is challenging, long, and expensive. It is important to support the young men who have heard the call from God. What can you do? Donating to the Bishop s Ministry Appeal gives us the opportunity to participate in the work Jesus calls us to do. Pray for our seminarians. LECTURAS DE LA SEMANA Lunes: Dn 9:4b-10; Sal 79 (78):8, 9, 11, 13; Lc 6:36-38 Martes: Is 1:10, 16-20; Sal 50 (49):8-9, 16bc-17, 21, 23; Mt 23:1-12 Miércoles:Jer 18:18-20; Sal 31 (30):5-6, 14-16; Mt 20:17-28 Jueves: Jer 17:5-10; Sal 1:1-4, 6; Lc 16:19-31 Viernes: Gn 37:3-4, 12-13a, 17b-28a; Sal 105 (104): 16-21; Mt 21:33-43, Sábado: Mi 7:14-15, 18-20; Sal 103 (102):1-4, 9-12; Lc 15:1-3, Domingo: Ex 20:1-17 [1-3, 7-8, 12-17]; Sal 19 (18):8-11; 1 Cor 1:22-25; Jn 2:13-25 Lecturas alternativas (Año A): Ex 17:3-7; Sal 95 (94):1-2, 6-9; Rom 5:1-2, 5-8; Jn 4:5-42 [5-15, 19b-26, 39a, 40-42] ADULT FORMATION Question of the Week/Pregunta de la Semana March 1 Second Sunday of Lent Gospel: Mark 9:2 10 Adults: How deeply do I believe that God is for me, and no one can destroy me? LENTEN DAY OF REFLECTION Presentation Church will be offering an opportunity for a Day of Reflection with Sr. Susan Olsen, SNDdeN. The theme will be The Being and Doing of Lent. We will be invited to find grace in our daily life and get down to basics during Lent. Please join us on March 14 in the Church from 10am to 3:30pm. Feel free to invite your friends. Free will offering only. Lunch is not included you may go out or bring a lunch and eat on site as a faith community. For further information, please contact Sr. Kathy at or GOT PRAYER? Please share it with a child of God The children of Presentation School and the Religious Education Program are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion with our Church community in April and in May. Each child has decorated his/her own Eucharist ornament. In the first week of March, these ornaments will be displayed in the baptismal font in the center of the Church. We invite you to take an ornament and we ask that you pray for this child daily during their preparation. On behalf of the children and families, we thank you. We believe that this will make it an extra special time knowing that someone is praying especially for them while they are preparing for their Eucharistic Journey. SOCIAL JUSTICE MINISTRY RESTORATIVE JUSTICE Opportunities for volunteers The California Health Care Facility in southeast Stockton is a prison hospital where the prisoners are receiving various levels of medical and nursing care. The Catholic chaplain, Deacon Porfirio Cisneros needs help with parish-type ministries, such as a Eucharistic minister at a weekly Communion service and monthly Mass, RCIA sponsor, Bible studies and faith sharing, and visiting those confined to their beds. For more information, call Deacon Cisneros at If you would like to talk about what it is like to volunteer at this facility, please contact Susan Turpin, parishioner, I was in prison and you visited me. (Matthew 25:36) PRESCHOOL OPEN ENROLLMENT Presentation Parish Preschool Open Enrollment will be from March 2 through March 31. Forms are available at the preschool. Please contact the preschool for more information at or at HOLY GROUNDS COFFEE SHOP NOW OPEN! Wednesdays from 7:30 to 10:30am Sundays from 7:30am to noon. Come visit with friends Monsignor s Corner DIVINIZATION: This idea is as old as Athanasius, a 4 th Century bishop: The Son of God became man so that man might become God. In the 13 th Century St. Thomas Aquinas said: The Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that He, made man, might make men Gods. In 1994 the Catholic Catechism tells us: The Word became flesh to make us partakers of the divine nature. (#460) OMG During Lent let s work on this challenge. Msgr. Larry Our Lenten offering will assist the Red Rhino Orphanage Project. Please pick up a red Lenten Red Rhino donation box at one of the church entrances. In fact, we encourage each family member to take a box. Consider not only placing your spare change in the box but also any sacrifices made during Lent, such as not going to Starbucks, a movie or other favorite activity. Kindly return the boxes the second Sunday of Easter at the church entrances by placing them in the collection barrels. If you desire, please place your name on the boxes you return. Help make a difference in the lives of children in and around Nairobi, Kenya.
