How much smaller is the Naída CI compared to the Harmony? The Naída CI processor is 40% smaller than AB s previous behind-the-ear processor and is as thin as the industryleading power hearing instrument. 3. Are any of the Harmony or Neptune parts compatible with Naída CI? The Universal Headpiece (UHP) is compatible with Naída CI. Note that the cables for use with the Naída CI processor are different from those used with Harmony or Neptune. With use of the Naída CI Power Adapter, you can use the Harmony Power Adapter Cable and Harmony Batteries. Please note: The T-Mic 2, earhooks, cables, batteries, and connectivity accessories are not compatible with Neptune or Harmony. 4. How many microphones does the Naída CI processor have? The Naída CI processor has four microphone options: front, back, headpiece, and T-Mic 2 more than any other sound processor in the industry for the most flexible sound capturing and wearing options. 5. What are the benefits of upgrading to the Naída CI processor? Is the Naída CI processor waterproof/swimmable? What is the IP rating of Naída CI? No. The Naída CI processor is water resistant with an IP 57 rating. The first number refers to ingress protection against solid foreign bodies. A rating of 0 indicates no protection and 6 indicates dust tight. The second number refers to ingress protection against various forms of moisture. A rating of 0 indicates no protection and 8 indicates waterproof. Future waterproof accessories are under development. 7. Do I still need a Neptune? AB offers the lifestyle line for the industry s most flexible wearing styles to meet recipient needs. With the introduction of Naída CI, the market s first featherlite, instyle design has arrived. Slim and trim, Naída CI sound processors are incredibly lightweight for barely noticeable on and off-ear wearing. Using both lifestyle line processors gives you the ultimate flexibility for hearing your world. 8. What battery options are available for the Naída CI processor? There are many new battery options being introduced with the Naída CI: Three sizes of rechargeable PowerCel batteries: 110, 170, and 230 mah Disposable Zinc-Air batteries high power cells AAA PowerPak utilizing 3 AAA batteries and PowerCel Off-the-Ear Power Options using existing Harmony PowerCel batteries 9. What is the expected battery life for the Naída CI batteries? Cost-effective and eco-friendly, rechargeable PowerCel batteries are available in three sizes for up to 32 hours of battery life. Disposable Zinc-Air batteries offer up to 32 hours of battery life and are ideal for travel and emergencies. A lightweight option with long battery life, the AAA PowerPak allows recipients to wear the battery off the ear and enjoy up to 129 hours of battery life. Operating times are estimates; results may vary. 10. Are there controls on the Naída CI processor? Yes, the Naída CI processor has a volume rocker switch and a program button available. With the Phonak QuickSync feature, bilateral Naída CI recipients are able to change volume and program settings on both processors with only one touch. Additionally, the AB mypilot provides access to volume control, programs and sensitivity for one or both processors. 11. Is there a sensitivity control on the Naída CI processor? The Naída CI does not have a sensitivity control on the processor; however, sensitivity can be adjusted manually for one or both processors using the AB mypilot accessory or through the clinician fitting software, SoundWave Is the Naída CI compatible with a T-Mic? Yes. The T-Mic 2, with an all-new, incredibly discreet design, comes in 3 sizes for all ears and ages with enhanced aesthetics and comfort. The T-Mic 2 also lets recipients use cell phones, Bluetooth devices, and MP3 players just like everyone else. 13. What earhook options are available with the Naída CI? In addition to the T-Mic 2 offering, translucent earhooks come in standard and small sizes, and feature a softtouch design for added comfort. 14. Will the Naída CI communicate with a Phonak hearing instrument? No; however, Naida CI and a compatible Phonak hearing instrument can communicate with the ComPilot accessory so that phone calls, FM and music can stream to both ears. 15. Can I send my Naída CI processor to Phonak for repair? No. Naída CI processors can only be repaired/serviced at AB. 16. How many programs are available with the Naída CI? The Naída CI has five program slots available for each implanted ear for a total of 10 programs. If all five program slots for each ear are not utilized, recipients will only need to toggle through those slots which contain a program. The Intellilink feature ensures that the correct programs will be available for the implant the sound processor is connected to so recipients no longer need to keep track of which processor is for which ear. 17. What sound processing strategy should I use with a Naída CI processor? Please speak with your audiologist about which strategy is appropriate for you. 18. Can I use my current program with the Naída CI? Yes; existing CII/90K programming strategies are compatible for use with the Naída CI processor. 19. What is HiRes Optima Sound Processing*? HiRes Optima is the industry s latest sound processing innovation. This advanced hearing technology delivers optimized battery life with the same great performance as AB s patented HiRes Fidelity 120 * processing. AB cochlear implant recipients using this new technology enjoy an average improvement of 55% in battery life, giving them considerably more time to hear their world before needing to change a battery. Can the Naída CI be worn off the ear? Yes, there are right and left clip accessories for the Naída CI in order to wear the entire processor off the ear. There is also the added benefit of headpiece microphone input, unique to AB, while wearing the processor in any of the off-ear configurations. The AAA PowerPak and PowerCel adapters are additional options that take the weight of the battery off the ear, allowing the processor to be worn in the smallest on-ear configuration. 23. What diagnostic capabilities are available with Naída CI? The Naída CI sound processor utilizes diagnostic LED indicators and introduces internal alarms. The Naída CI Listening Check module allows you to easily check all of the system s microphones: the headpiece mic, the two on-processor mics, and the T-Mic 2. What are the bimodal benefits of using a Naída CI processor on one ear and a compatible Phonak hearing instrument on the other? With the ComPilot accessory, phone calls, FM, music and endless other media can be wirelessly streamed to a Naída CI processor and Phonak hearing instrument. 31. What are the advantages of QuickSync? Ideal for bilateral hearing, the QuickSync feature from Phonak allows for easy, instant, simultaneous adjustments to volume and program settings on two Naída CI sound processors. 32. What is the advantage of DuoPhone? When using the phone, this unique Phonak feature automatically streams the caller s voice directly to both implanted ears for hearing in stereo and easier phone conversations. 33. What are the advantages of ZoomControl? Can I send my ComPilot accessory to AB for replacement? ComPilot accessories purchased from AB and under warranty can be sent to AB for replacement. Phonak will manage the warranty for ComPilot accessories purchased from Phonak or Phonak Distributors. 39. Where do I send the mypilot for replacement while under warranty? Recipients should send their AB mypilot to AB for repair/service under warranty. 40. Can I use the AB mypilot for Naída CI with the Phonak Naída hearing aid? No. The AB mypilot remote control works only with Naída CI sound processors. Phonak makes a mypilot remote control that works with compatible Phonak hearing instruments. Alternatively, the ComPilot is compatible with both Naída CI sound processors and compatible Phonak hearing instruments. 41. Are any of the Naída CI accessories compatible with other AB processors? Yes, the AAA PowerPak is compatible with the new Naída CI processor as well as the Harmony sound processor. 42. What is the AccessLine? The AB mypilot remote control expands the processor setting options to include access to unilateral/bilateral controls, sensitivity, status readouts of battery life and processor settings, a listening check of specific microphone inputs, as well as direct access to the ZoomControl feature. 45. My child s teacher has an AB mypilot at school. Can it be used to obtain status information regarding my child s device(s) or do I need to send my own mypilot to school? The school s AB mypilot can be dynamically paired to each child s processor(s) providing status readouts, allowing for processor changes and daily listening checks of individual audio sources, including FM. 46. How can I talk on the phone with the Naída CI? There are a variety of ways to use the telephone with a Naída CI sound processor. With the T-Mic 2, recipients can use the phone like those with normal-hearing do. Please consult with your clinician for recommendations regarding telephone use and which of the following options are best for you: Use with the telephone receiver, T-Coil, Bluetooth via ComPilot, DuoPhone (bilateral feature), a patch cable, or speaker phone. 47. Can I connect to Bluetooth devices with Naída CI? Yes, recipients have industry-leading wireless connectivity access to Bluetooth technology using the ComPilot with a Naída CI processor(s). 48. Is Naída CI FM compatible? The ComPilot allows for FM to be wirelessly streamed to the Naída CI. Also, the Naída CI offers an internal T-Coil that can be used with the Phonak mylink+. Additional FM access is under development. Warranty & Upgrade Programs 49. Does the Naída CI have the same warranty as a Phonak Naída hearing aid? Warranty policies vary. The Naída CI processor comes with a three-year warranty. 50. What is the warranty for Naída CI and its accessories? ComPilot accessories purchased from AB can be sent to AB for repair. Phonak will manage the warranty for ComPilot accessories purchased from Phonak. 51. Will the Naída CI cost the same as a Phonak Naída hearing aid? No, price will vary by product and by region. 52. How much will it cost for recipients to upgrade? Naída CI retail price is $9,595, which is the same cost as Neptune and Harmony. The deductible cost will depend on the insurance provider and plan. 53. Can I trade in an old processor to upgrade? Recipients from single-processor centers who participated in the Next Generation Opt-in Program can trade in their processor for a Naída CI processor. There are no other trade-in programs available. 54. Can I trade in an unopened processor to upgrade to Naída CI? No. Other than the Next Generation Processor Opt-in program, there are no other trade-in programs available. 55. Can I trade in my Phonak Naída hearing aid for a Naída CI processor?
